Join Annabel and Rachel for an unforgettable 6-day yoga retreat at the beautiful Copal Retreat Center in Paamul, Mexico. Stay in newly renovated rooms in a spacious family-owned Mexican villa, enjoy delicious and healthy gourmet cuisine inspired by traditional fare, and deepen your yoga practice under the skillful guidance of two experienced teachers.

Paamul is a gem, quietly tucked away in the famous Mayan Riviera. Create a quiet experience by staying close to home, enjoying the villa amenities, or visiting the local beaches. Or choose a more adventurous experience by taking advantage of the festivities and entertainment of Playa del Carmen that lie right at your fingertips.

Rooftop, poolside, and courtyard rooms are available and are booked on a first come, first served basis. Book early to secure your preference. Note: If you select a shared room and do not have a roommate, you will be paired with someone.

Retreat Includes

  • 6 nights’ accommodation in newly renovated and beautifully decorated rooms. Private and shared room options available.

  • 2 yoga classes per day (morning session is an all-levels 75 minute flow; evening session is yin/restorative). Beginners welcome; classes are structured to meet each participant’s individual needs.

  • Optional “soul food talks” to dive into yoga philosophy and explore how it applies to everyday life.

  • 3 nourishing, healthy gourmet meals per day (except one lunch and one dinner on excursion days). Individual dietary needs and preferences are honored.

  • Transfers to and from retreat centre from Cancun Airport (specific times only)

  • One complimentary massage

  • Excursions to Maya Tulum historic ruins and freshwater cenote (swimming and snorkeling)

  • Welcome ceremony by local shaman and musicians

About Paamul and the Copal Retreat Center

  • Paamul is a small, quiet beach community about an hour south of Cancun and is easily accessible by taxi or shuttle bus.

  • Cancun is a short 4-5 hour flight from Vancouver on the east coast of Mexico (Caribbean side) in the Mayan Riviera  

  • Paamul is close to Puerto Aventuras, Tulum, Playa del Carmen and Akumal.  

Retreat Schedule

A typical day:

  • 6:30-7 am: optional meditation and pranayama practice

  • 7-8:15: Sunrise yoga (all-levels flow)

  • 8:30 Breakfast

  • 10:00-12:00: Leisure time

  • 12:00: Lunch

  • 12:00-5:00: Leisure time or excursion

  • 3:00: Optional philosophy exploration (select days)

  • 5:00-6:15: Sunset yin or restorative practice

  • 6:45: Healthy and gourmet dinner inspired by local traditions and flavours

About Your Teachers

Rachel Scott (E-RYT 500, YACEP, MFA, MSci) is a teacher trainer and yoga teacher based in Vancouver, BC. She has presented at Wanderlust, the Victoria Yoga Conference, the Toronto Yoga Conference, and has contributed to Yoga International, the Huffington Post, and Half Moon Yoga Blog. She is the author of three books, and has taught more than 5,000 hours of teacher training. She loves to help students find the depth and potential of their personal yoga practice, and apply the tools of yoga to their daily life. Annabel Kershaw (E-RYT 500) is a skilled hatha, vinyasa and yin teacher based in Vancouver, BC. A singer and performer, she infuses chanting and storytelling into her teaching, and excels at guiding her students into their practice with both skill and humour. Annabel has travelled extensively honing her teaching skills with numerous teacher trainings in Yin, meditation, vinyasa and anatomical studies.

She has led workshops in Yin, Restorative and Core awareness. Annabel is also a level 2 certified Hypopressives instructor (Low Pressure Fitness) a technique designed to correct and improve Pelvic floor health.
